Freddie Yates – Walking Alone | One Man Show

Surprisingly, Freddie Yates is on course to start a career in electronic music. One listen to ‘Walking Alone’, and he comes across as an assured and comfortable artist with a penchant for penning guitar driven uplifting soft rock music. Keenly emotive, building with a purpose, and based in a strong chord progression. It’s overwhelmingly melancholic in tonality, the kind that you want to hear on a rainy day when you just need an excuse to wallow in your own gloominess. The violin adds another dimension to the track, offering an added layer of emotion that you can’t craft with a guitar alone.

Freddie’s ability to create a wistful energy in his music really serves to set him apart. That euphoric feeling, simultaneously a depressant and an upliftment, is so hard to pinpoint and create. ‘What a perfect day, to do nothing’. I adore ‘Walking Alone’. Emotions are resplendent and the arrangement is luminescent. I can’t wait to hear how Freddie pivots from this style to an electronic one; hopefully, the emotion remains as powerful.
