‘Destiny Road’ is a story that’s been wanting to be told for over two decades now. Inspired and incepted all the way back from a dream that Gary had in 1996 while picturing Emerald coloured hills as well as a subsequent fateful encounter with a world traveler he fell in love with, the song feels like a romantic journey of epic yet grounded proportions. Built on a classic rock arrangement that definitely feels like a piece out of another time and style, the incisive guitar solos, the baritone and evocative vocal performance, and the simple acoustic melodies in the background all add a sense of dreaminess and grandeur to the piece.
It’s a story of love, of resilience, of a journey that feels fitting for a movie. You feel yourself through your partner as you listen to ‘Destiny Road’, imagining a life yet to be lived or reminiscing a life that has been. A wonderfully poignant piece of songwriting from back to front.
