The beat of “Monster” is one of those that has me hitting replay after just ten seconds. There’s something so perking and intriguing about its spark and subtlety that I can’t really place my hand on. Grace & Moji’s vocal harmonies are always a delight, the way they play off each others verses continually adds moments of diversity and contrast in each composition that hit harder than ever on this tune. But it’s in the mood and melody of “Monster” that it really finds itself hitting my playlists repeat button again and again. It’s frolicking and fun, but also melding together the darkness and light in a way that few can do.
It’s a powerful piece of indie pop that’s got a swagger and flow that’s inescapably fun, both as a piece to dance to and as a track to just zone out to and immerse yourself in. With just two songs out so far, Grace & Moji have demonstrated so much that I can’t wait to see what’s up next. It’s one of the most refreshing pieces of alternative pop that I’ve had the pleasure of hearing.
