Two of the over twenty projects released on the 4th of June, ‘Revolutions’ & ‘Evolutions’ are a mere puddle in the ocean of music that Plano based experimental artist Havoc Osiris has put out. The beatmaker chose to release a whole slew of records on his birthday, an absolute outpouring of creative flow that’s seen him release hundreds of tracks that range from apocalyptic and dystopian to euphoric and transcendent. Osiris is not your average creator, capable of producing such seemingly endless output while still retaining a keen sense of quality, innovation, and intrigue across projects.
From the first listen of ‘The Wildcard’s Deck’, Havoc Osiris immediately hooks your attention to his exceptionally experimental soundscapes that host beats hitherto unheard of altogether. There’s a darkness and seemingly absurd nature to the diversity of sounds on the record. The songs across Revolutions seem to oscillate between a more dark industrial element towards a flourishing and opulent palace of instrumental interweaving. At 26 tracks long, and just serving as a singular record in a 21+ collection of releases, it’s a testament to Osiris’s creative vision and output that there’s simply so much baking in that studio. Highlights for me are ‘Avant-Garde of Civilization’ and the record’s opener.
‘Evolutions’ feels a bit more raw and incisive than it’s counterpart. From the tribal percussive element and hazy backdrop on ‘Amalgamoral’, you can sense that the beats that Osiris is producing here are starkly different. The frenzied speed in the beat of ‘Three-Ring Binding Agent’ alongside a mellow and melodic acoustic elemental counterpart add so much imagination and calming sounds to keep you in a state of deep focus and meditative bliss.
For anyone intrigued and interested in beats and exploring the sheer imagination of it all, Havoc Osiris’ slew of experimental electronic albums are just the right injection.
