narcissus is a song that many can find some semblance of solace in. Izzy Pingrey’s ever so emotional performance places the New York based indie pop artist on the map. She’s got a twang to her voice, a breath of fresh air in her delivery that feels so distinctly her own. The arrangement is rather stripped back, a simple acoustic melody buoyed on by a beat that builds and drives and hits a crescendo that’s flooring and cathartic in that chorus line.
Written as a dumping of emotions and expression from Izzy Pingrey as she found herself dealing with multiple friendship problems, narcissus is about focusing on yourself and giving less time to those people around you who can’t reciprocate the same level of effort and care that you constantly find yourself giving them.
