Jason Rueger And The Eyes bring to life a brand of folk music that’s inherently euphoric and loaded with warmth and sunshine. The psychedelic, alt-folk group from Los Angeles is hushed, slightly restrained and subtle in its composition, giving out a wholly relaxing and ethereal energy to the listener. The group have leaned into this laidback and relaxing style more than before on ‘Fault Line’, a characteristic they promise is going to be a defining feature of their new record scheduled for release later in February.
There’s something distinctively sombre and soothing about ‘Fault Line’. It feels like you’re being completely allowed to surrender to your senses, wholeheartedly imbibe the beauty of the natural world around you as Jason’s serene vocals, Gavrishov’s dexterous piano, Bottrell’s memorable pedal, and Ullery’s fantastical 12 string sweep you away. A piece of modern folk music done exquisitely well.
