On perhaps his most ambitious piece of work yet, Texas based hip-hop artist J’Moris covers a whole host of styles and flows being experimented with. Moris Better: Loveless Confessions is replete with the kind of dark and sleek autotune driven trap production we’ve been accustomed to in the modern era of hip-hop. Within it though, you see spurts of r&b, aggressive flows, and a whole host of voices being utilised across the record. . The new record finds J’Moris truly displaying his versatility on the mic as he introduces soulful, distinctive vocal melodies over R&B tracks, chilled, seductive downtempo gems, strip club anthems and booming Biggie-esque bravado over dangerous hip hop and trap beats.
You see J’Moris oscilalte so much on this record, moving from a ladies man and playboy to an introspective storyteller who’s got droves of knowledge to impart. The entire record flows as a singular vibe, easily blending and ebbing between different minor adjustments while still maintaining a singular focus that you can clearly see being built on.
The 14 tracks on this album were chosen out of 30 + tracks the prolific rapper recently completed. Guests include D. Hewitt on the heady, addictive “Fall Thru” and 254 Assassin, and The Composer Four000 Units on the effortlessly smooth “Wanna Ball”. Tracks like ‘Magic’ are a definitive highlight for hip-hop fans across the board.
A remarkably diverse and eclectic piece of modern hip-hop.
