Julia Sole is an interesting act. A whole alter ego that comes to life on stage with her mask as both the centre of attention and a detractor and mechanism of defence, it does have you stopping to take note. The Dutch artist has a host of different styles and sounds, not really restricting herself to any particular genre of mood. On ‘Paranoid Sleeping’, you can almost feel the chaos within her mind unload in complete and almost bewildering fashion. A flurry of scintillating synths alongside heavy and overbearing guitars makes the entire experience so all encompassing and vigorous that you simply can’t turn away from. It’s a perfect representation of those attacks that unrelentingly unload onto your mind right before you find yourself yearning to sleep. Chaos that’s relatable and intense while being wholly overbearing, perfectly encapsulated in a sound.
