KAYBLE’s second single is more matured, fleshed out, and measured than his first. On ‘Thorns in a Glass House’, the Swindon based artist brings more vividly to life his unique blend of trip-hop and art rock in a hypnotic and evocative piece. The track discusses addiction and unrequited from the perspective of the not addicted. There’s explicit psychedelic sheen glittered all across the tune, a hypnotic gaze that has you simultaneously transfixed and dazed. It leaves you strangely nostalgic and wistful while trying to discern your own mental state in the blurry swamp he leaves you lost in.
It’s a fragile track, one that exists in the appropriately titled glass house that he describes. It’s transcendent, ethereal, and absolutely enchanting throughout its four minute run time. A pitch perfect piece of translucent and psychedelic art rock with just the right interspersing of hip-hop to bring that extra level of excitement.
