Knowte’s latest record sees the Hartford artist bring together the worlds of the old and new in both hip-hop and rock into a revealing and insightful project that delves deep into the mind of the artist while offering you an empathic insight into your own life through the lyrics being relayed. There’s a certain vulnerability to the record, a real intensity that comes out not just in the emotion of Knowte but also the uniqueness of the production that’s able to continually deliver complexity in the layers of the arrangement while also offering equally intricate rhyme schemes that bring out an endemic and authentic energy and style that’s wholeheartedly Knowte’s own.
What’s most evident about this record is Knowte’s flow and delivery, a style that I have never been able to experience on any other hip-hop record whatsoever. The barrage of bars that he unleashes onto the listener hits you like a truck, a flourish that feels too fast to keep up with but captivates you enough to join in on the ride. There isn’t as clear an enunciation as most, but it isn’t really a mumble record either.
Knowte has also founded “Worthy Productions,” an independent record label/artist development collective, that includes other amazing alternative musical acts. On his biggest release yet, he’s also been his most vulnerable. Take note, and trust the process.
