Kyote Radio – Real Crime

From Austin based American rock and roll band Kyote Radio comes a rambunctious and riveting piece of garage rock that’s bound to have you grooving, head banging, and rocking out to. Kyote Radio bring their roots in the West Texas desert ghost town of Terlingua to craft a powerful, hard-hitting, and altogether smashing piece of rock and roll on Real Crime. The riffs across this record are razor sharp, thunderously hard, and coated in a garb of psychedelic haziness that elevates the entire experience up another level.

‘Open Wide’ is an ideal piece to set the tone for Real Crime. With a minute long instrumental section that progressively gets heavier and harder with each passing moment, it’s the right amount of tense build up to be had before Micah Paredes enters with his incisive lyrics that tackle  greed, power, love and everything in between. The fuzzy coating that pervades all over the record gives Real Crime that grimy garage rock energy to it that fits perfectly with the raucous and raw passion that the group brings on each piece.

The riffs are definitely the highlight of Real Crime. They’re constantly offering something a bit different on each piece but retaining that same thunderous energy and relentless fervour. One can almost visualise the group powering through like a singular ray of light in a barren and desolate desert night. It’s brooding, barraging, and immensely entertaining.
