Building, brooding, and creeping, Maltese Flamingo’s dramatic symphony ‘All Forgiven’ is a true cross genre eclectic bop that will have you welcoming its progression with open arms. Starting with a slightly ominous synth bass that feels as though it’s going to crash into something cacophonic, the song slowly gives way to a very poignant and subtle classical guitar section that’s accompanied by a measured and evocative vocal performance. As the chorus line, ‘All forgiven now’ is first uttered, it starts to shift again, slowly seeping the two styles together into a wondrous symphony that blends the electronic with the traditional in such seamless style. The song feels so lackadaisical inherently, almost choosing at a whim when to take restraint and when to accelerate rather than adhering to any scripted flow or structure.
In some ways, it can feel a bit confusing to go through when you set expectations towards each moment. But if you surrender control, it’s a wonderful experience.
