A loveable folk acoustic tune that hits a bit too close to home. That’s MARBL’s latest song in a nutshell. Taking a rather cheeky and earnest look at our single minded view towards marriage, she pokes fun at all those around her in her generation who seem to her to be falling into a rather monolithic life. The video tells a rather crazily comical story of a young woman who runs away from her wedding at the final moments. It’s in that exaggerated and over the top messaging that MARBL works on. An overbearing sense of commitment to predetermined life paths can be painful for anyone to feel like they need to fit in. Sometimes, you just need that reassurance that you’re not alone in feeling a bit out of place from the established path.
With silky acoustic guitar work, a lovely tambourine, and serenading vocals to match, the hilariously dark video contrasts the tune all that much better. A lovely piece of timely modern folk that’s as reassuring as it is soothing.
