‘Rabbit Hole’ is interesting for multiple reasons. The simple ukulele strumming, the spacious vocals, and the emotional warmth that Meghan Pulles effortlessly exudes is a definitive highlight. But, more than any of that, it’s interesting for its subject matter and deft execution of the same. Describing falling down a rabbit hole that reels you into a negative path that has you experiencing a myriad of things that impact you negatively, it gives a nuanced and poignant take on a descent that’s often disheartening and dark when it happens to you. Ever so often, we change who we are and compromise on the traits that define us to adapt and perhaps gain favour with someone who might not be looking for our own best interests. Slowly but surely, that journey has you completely captured and taking you down a path that’s not for you whatsover.
It’s a folk song with dark undertones and a more sprightly overtone. Wonderfully toned and poignantly sung.
