Triumphant and stirring across its lengthy but gripping runtime, Mercurius & Jasmine Crichton bring out a roaring piece of uplifting glam pop rock music on Streetlights that’s emphatic and emotional. Anchored and driven by a vocal duet that works wonderfully with each side playing their part to perfection, especially on that incisive after chorus that goes “don’t leave me here alone”. It achingly captures that feeling of longing, loss, and the need for companionship in these moments of loneliness and uncertainty. The song’s final two minutes deliver a powerful and riveting electric guitar solo that smashes to closure with complexity, but more so with such an emotional weight to it in and of itself.
It’s got the touch of the eighties in its emotion and construction, giving it a delectable and melodic feeling for a modern rock piece.
