Oscillating and jumping between the light and the dark, Metrophobia take us down a delectably nostalgic run on “Crazy”. It’s got that early lo-fi rawness to it, a crop that sounded very similar to some of the late 90s, early 00s alternative scene. The distortion in the guitars, the darkness in theme, and the overall melancholic theme combine to create this uniquely gritty piece. But, amidst what might be fairly dark and grim, there’s a bright and warm light that exists internal within this piece that comes out with resplendent vibrancy in the chorus.
There’s a wistfulness innate to “Crazy”, but that can be largely attributed to its sonic similarity to songs of a particular time. But there’s also a brightness to it that comes out in the chorus that traces between something lackadaisical and something hopeful. It’s imaginative and intriguing in a way that’s immediately compelling.
