Taking complete responsibility for all aspects of his music, Michael Ransom lets his work speak for itself. The indie artist from London has a penchant for penning addictive and inviting pieces of bite sized pop music that’s immensely imaginative. On ‘Good News Comes In Threes’, Ransom’s futuristic and trippy arrangement overlays on top of a very simple and optimistic pop tune. That simple repetition on the chorus of the titular lines is loaded with an almost overwhelming sensation of nostalgia and warmth. Ransom’s delicacy with his vocal performance, lulls you in with a gleeful enthusiasm. By the songs end, you can’t help but be humming that chorus on and on till you’re increasingly infatuated.
It’s nothing overly complicated and nothing remarkably innovative. What sets Michael Ransom apart is a commitment to music that is broad based, easily appealing, but never once boring. It piques your interest without ever clamouring it, and that is a very difficult needle to thread.
