Opening with a foreboding and ominous riff that builds tension with a purpose and razor sharp focus, Moraine’s first single off their upcoming debut album is a refreshing throwback to the sound of the 90s and early 00s. The energetic and brooding piece is loaded with heavy riffs and an earnest emotional core to piece it all together. At its core, the song is about the lead singer’s life experience being raised by his grandmother from a very young age and now returning to that same house with her being forced to leave for an assisted living facility. Ever so often we know of places for the people that made them, and when those people aren’t there any more the space itself becomes a ghost to you.
It’s a powerful and punchy piece of late stage grunge music that’s deeply emotional at its essence.
