Nathaniel Paul’s vocal harmonies can cut through even the harshest of souls exteriors. No matter how stoic you might be, no matter how tough a wall you might be holding up, there’s a warmth and empathy behind his voice that just tears at you and pokes insides begging you to feel. As he sings “It’s a funny world, we’re living in”, I find myself looking inwards while placing myself within the much larger backdrop of the world that makes me feel like a tiny insignificant speckle within it all. The simple acoustic tune perfectly complements the touching poignance behind his voice.
It’s a beautifully melodic and warm piece of minimal folk in arrangement but maximal in its feeling and theme. For any folk enthusiast, this is one artist to keep on your radar for a while.
