‘Hard Truth’ starts off with a tension building riff that quickly develops into one of the hardest, most crushing, and powerful hard rock openings I’ve heard all year. The clear post-grunge influence and even innate quality to this outfit is bound to have fans of 90s and early 00s rock absolutely delighted. Featuring one of the most melodic, commanding, and unique vocal styles I’ve heard this year, Patient Lounge has almost immediately made a fan out of me on ‘Hard Truth’. I absolutely adore this genre of music and most modern imitations simply pale in comparison to their inspirations. However, not only do Patient Lounge offer a spark that indicates a level of freshness and innovation, they do the basics of what makes hard rock so good with razor sharp precision.
You’re not going to find a more incisive, aggressive, yet grounded post grunge track coming out of 2022. A delight for fans of the genre and a moment for newcomers to find a new space to fall in love with. It’s not too heavy nor too light, treading the line exactly when its needed.
