A country rock song steeped in history and embellished with stories, Lynch’s “Glad Our Bridge Has Burned” draws inspiration from the story of a semi-truck crash on the I-75 Brent Spence Bridge that caused a massive fire, leading to the closure and repair of the bridge for months. Despite what seems like an outwardly bleak and dark topic that could be cause for many to suspect a dreary and sullen tune, Lynch twists the coin rope on itself and finds humour and moments of endearment in stark contrast to the tragic news story he ropes you in with. It’s got a jovial country spirit that’s perfectly expressed in the sheer spirit of Lynch’s own performance.
An absolute joy to hear and sing along to, this is a fun and lively piece of modern country that’s true to its roots.
