Rihards Libietis – Transcending Parallels | Traditional with Experimental

‘Transcending Parallels’ is a full body experience in every sense of the phrase. The classical and post-rock influenced instrumental record from Latvian magician Richards Libietis’s only flaw is that it only lasts a bit over three minutes. But within that relatively short runtime for an instrumental piece, it contains magnitudes — a building and unsettling introduction that keeps you on your toes, a crashing midsection straight out of a hard rock piece, and a cathartic finale that wraps the entire piece up with effortless ease. Richard is well versed in the Latvian music scene, having performed, collaborated, and composed with a plethora of notable names in the industry. On this project, he enlists the help of Tom Kagainis on the drums while he takes up the guitar, bass, and synth responsibility for himself.

The song echoes sentiments of loneliness and desolation, and a burning desire to overcome. It’s progressiveness and gradual build up provide a sense of encouragement and hope in trying times. Despite being an absolute sonic overload of instrumentation meshing together, most of the song was organically recorded, making it all that more impressive. It is dynamic and palatial with purpose. If you’re a fan of instrumental music, you wouldn’t want to skip this.
