An immediately funk infused and eccentric piece of electronic groove, Sadiva’s ‘I’ve Been Thinking’ is intriguingly infectious if nothing else. The arrangement is so immediately intoxicating, enrapturing you with it’s rather old school production sensibility. That’s then married with a vocal performance that’s evidently tuned to a high pitch alongside the nostalgic hip-hop and boom bap beats. There’s an energy behind the melody that’s simultaneously uplifting but also mellowed and relaxed. One of the most eccentric but meticulously put together pieces of electronic music that I’ve had the pleasure to come across this year, ‘I’ve Been Thinking’ is everything I’ve yearned for.
The accompanying remixes also give you the opportunity to hear it in a more upbeat and frenetic fashion through the Aaron Static club and jungle style remix. RaptrorHandz’s remix is a lot more trippy, experimental and overflowing.
A masterful piece of modern electronic that’s a case study in innovation and influences.
