The luscious opulence of Sail Cassady’s latest indie folk escapade makes for a track that basks in its own grandiosity. Colin Craviero (Sail Cassady’s lead singer and songwriter) compared his old life to an aging house with rooms filled with memories and objects scattered across the floors, torn apart and abandoned to begin a new life. Like many others, the song was an outcome of the pandemic, and the levels of introspection and nostalgia that it brought upon many of us. Soaring vocal harmonies, a hauntingly beautiful string orchestra, and a foreboding and driving electric riff that starts to uncover itself more and more as the song builds all combine for a folk piece that’s far more than the sum of its parts.
The song also describes Craviero’s own story of self discovery and his internal battles, his conflicts with his faith, his identity, and all the demons that still seem to haunt over him. Undoubtedly, a majestic and enchanting piece of folk.
