A Southern California based firefighter with a voice loaded with grit, earnestness, and emotion, Sammy Listoe’s style of country music is traditional and powerful. Growing up around a family of musicians, Listoe has always had music on the back of his mind. It was only when he was 21 that Listoe took music to a degree of seriousness that signalled for a potential career altogether. On the content, Listoe draws inspiration from artists like Springsteen and Kings of Leon. Their brand of pure blooded roots music that’s based on universal issues influenced his own work.
‘Fallin” is an acoustic tune first and foremost. It’s the kind of soppy song about love and the vulnerabilities associated with it that you fall back to on a gloomy day. On this version, Listoe enlists the help of a more fleshed out production style, turning it into a more grander piece of rock music while still retaining the elements that would make it a ‘soft rock’ tune. Listoe actually finished the track while being deployed, working remotely in collaboration with his producer to fine tune the track before its release. It’s heartfelt and sincere, the kind of gritty but soppy soft rock that so many of us fall for.
