‘I Wish’ is a hypnotic experimental escapade unlike most. The synth driven angsty tune from Chicago based Sarantos is a complete journey into the singer’s own psyche while offering the listener their own reprieve and empathic journey into their own mind. You find yourself falling down the rabbit hole, engaging all the various waves of desires and wants you have within yourself. The simple yet readily understandable chorus line, that feels strangely morose and melancholic but also slightly innocently angsty is a strange but effective emotional chord to tap into.
‘I wish I was happy, I wish was free’ is as straight forward as it gets, but there’s a reason for that. We constantly find ourselves in the search for some sort of validation or material success, but at the end of the day it’s just those two simple desires that cure our entire being.
