SARAS’s latest record ‘Late Bloomer’ is a spritely and flowery piece of modern pop music that’s loaded with melodic and upbeat pop sensibilities that are infused with just the right amount of nostalgia and euphoria in equal measure. My personal highlight on the record, and the topic for this review, ‘Fucks to Give’ feels like a complete celebration of being fed up and done with being anxious. It’s written like a reminder to yourself, the kind that has you recognising that wasting away with overthinking and overanalysing every little ounce of negativity starts to really weigh you down. That triumphant and loaded chorus line, ‘I’m all out of fucks’ rings so true to anyone who’s come back from a long day that just feels like you’re being hurled through the ringer.
One of the most delightfully energetic and poignant pieces of pop music while being decidedly darkly comical in its exuberance.
