‘Ford Motel’ has one of the most immediately recognisable and infectious acoustic melodies to a song intro I’ve heard all year. The raw and lovable Americana anthem feels like a country movie soundtrack well within the first minute alone. The creation from Scot Free Sessions, a collaboration of musicians brought together by Edmonton, Alberta songwriter Scot Robinson, is Americana done right and then some. It feels driven by emotion and carried by a sublime guitar backed arrangement that sounds like a heartland special to sing along to. I can’t quite explain that feeling, but it has you yearning to be on a road trip, taking in the wide countryside and enjoying the beauty of the landscape around you.
Scot Robinson’s got a penchant for crafting the right kind of country music and Ford Motel is a special inductee to that list.
