Troubled Mind feels like a rodeo. The soulful Americana piece from Soul Zimon & His Kozmic Combinations has a distinctively Western feel, almost making it fit right in place as a background score for a climax scene in an old school shoot out on a desert. You can feel the loneliness in the arrangement, not as any sense of personal relationship inspired isolation, but the pure physical isolation of being lost and alone in a vast countryside or desert. Troubled Mind, as the title would suggest, is about confusion, about being conflicted and unsure of what the path forward should be.
The track about someone who has been left behind, sees himself as complex, lives in confusion, but has found someone or something new that leaves him unsure on how to move forward. The constant echoing of ‘I don’t know what to do’ as the backing arrangement builds and starts painting the picture of a barren environment makes for such a vividly resplendent cinematic to take in.
