A far cry from your conventional release, Spyderhuff’s absurdist instrumentally dominant post rock tune ‘What You Have’ is a wild ride that doesn’t ever stick to the template. Featuring a spoken word performance that’s loaded with character but devoid of melody, the raucous and almost cacophonic arrangement blends together so seamlessly in multiple touch points to keep you entirely captivated to this haywire composition. It’s not an easy or simple listen by any means, choosing instead to lean into its weirdness and heavy, almost ominous tone through and through.
But, if you’re like me, and you enjoy the occasional random and experimental pieces, you won’t be disappointed one bit. I live in a shoebox and sometime I’m okay is as iconic a single line as there could be.
