The Flashpot Moments – Sauce & Lucky Human Illusion

I found myself hooked from the very first chords of “One Too Many Great Ideas”. Few songs as an opener to a double album release find themselves as powerfully memorably with their hook line as this ecstatic opener.

The Flashpot Moments’ double album release “Sauce” and “Lucky Human Illusion” is an impressive display of the artist’s range and versatility. The two EPs offer vastly different listening experiences, yet they are both equally compelling in their own way. “Sauce,” mixed by Jamie Woolford of The Stereo, is a cohesive collection of power-pop tracks that are sure to get your head nodding and your feet tapping. The big guitars and driving beats are a perfect match for the catchy hooks and melodic vocals. Standout tracks include the infectious opener “One Too Many Great Ideas” and the driving and addictive closer “Code”.

On the other hand, “Lucky Human Illusion” is a more eclectic and expansive effort, featuring a variety of producers and mixers from around the world. The album takes the listener on a journey through different genres, from the indie rock of “Baby You Don’t Know” to the more pained and anguish driven ballad of “Coaster Shrapnel.” The standout track on this EP is the gem of song writing on “The Cashier Thinks “Oh No, Not Today,” an immersive piece of building narrative rock with a host of eclectic sonic choices that has a pre chorus that’s going to live long in your head.

It’s not easy to release one EP, let alone two. “Sauce” and “Lucky Human Illusion” are both impressive releases that showcase The Flashpot Moments’ ability to create incredibly infectious, yet far from standardised music. This is diverse in every which way. Whether you’re in the mood for some driving power-pop or a more introspective listening experience, there’s something here for everyone.
