Boston based rocker’ The Flashpot Moments have come alive with a fiery and anthemic flurry of indie rock bangers that are loaded with passion and energy. The indie rock studio project of Boston based singer/songwriter/guitarist Tim Cawley draws influences from the complete array of rock artists most of today’s adults would have grown up on. With a clear alternative energy and sheen overlaying the project, ‘Very Far’ also incorporates elements of progressive rock to add to the instrumental depth. Cawley’s own impassioned vocals that sound half similar to an indie rock record and partly like an emo rock one add something wholly unique and delectable.
From the first few chords of a song like ‘Itch’, you’re thrown into the fire of an artist who adores crafting and performing infectiously catchy rock anthems to sing along to. The ‘Itch’ isn’t going to leave you anytime soon. But not every song is just a frenetic and ecstatic alternative rock brigade. Songs like ‘Trust U’ fall more into a ballad section, even incorporating pieces of synths to add a differentiated melody. What’s constant is Cawley’s powerful and melodic vocal performance continually being the driving force on each track.
‘Very Far’ is a visceral record, the kind that you play again and again as it taps into your most innate feelings. It brings out emotions, allows you to have moments of catharsis, prides itself on its energy and passion. There isn’t a moment of dull, you’re not meant to be bored for a moment’s notice. You want to rock out, you want to scream at the top of your lungs, and you want to live your life to its fullest. So romanticise the mundane and do so with verve and passion on this ecstatic piece of alternative rock.
