The Lunar Keys clearly wanted to build something ambitious on ‘Once’. The larger than life rock song from this Guildford based outfit feels like a rush of blood to the head. It’s immense in scale, dramatic in emotion, and essential in importance. Far from your rather run of the mill opulent loving ballad, ‘Once’ is about a life itself. It’s about a journey from the erasure of innocence to the facing of all your anxieties, fears, and doubts. You feel yourself alive, rejuvenated, and ready to take on the world ahead of you.
I found myself almost instantly mesmerised by the luxury of the song’s production, but then quickly fixated to the journey of the lyrics being sung. When you find yourself in a rut, when you feel that your own importance is dwindling away, hear this track and see yourself finding a renewed sense of purpose and drive.
