THELIXX – Roam | Sing Life Away

The second single from Welsh indie-pop trio is an overdose of sugary warmth and glistening starry synth based production. It’s an absolutely addictive and delectable piece of future pop, the kind that you want to blast from a boombox as you drive across an open road on a sunny afternoon. The chorus, which has them singing ‘And I ended up in ROME’ with a dollop of passion is unmistakably one of the best pieces of power pop I’ve had the pleasure to come across all year.  Produced by Scouting For Girls frontman Roy Stride and Alex Oldroyd (Kaiser Chiefs, James Blunt). Roam serves as the follow-up to debut single Magic, which was released in June 2021 and received support from BBC Introducing in Wales and Amazing Radio’s Charlie Ashcroft.

It’s not overcomplicated lyrically, adhering to a a repetitive but infectious chorus. It’s the arrangement that makes it special, a gloriously over the top and glowingly resplendent aura that carries ‘Roam’ to new heights. As far as indie pop goes, you’d be hard pressed to find a more addictive song.
