The second single from To Hell With Tradition’s third album, The Baton is a quirky piece of indie rock that has a certain majesty to it. There’s a way the song builds, a careful crescendo that feels incredibly measured and progressive without ever speeding and rushing its release. You’re drawn into the anticipation of it all, the sheer pull of the intrigue that he’s able to build. The lyrical video is cute and effective, a simple conveyance of each word through a series of chits moving through animated staggering. The overall arrangement on the piece is incredibly sumptuous in its depth and the scale. There’s so many different and unique sonic elements that all fuse together into one easily transitioning piece that’s just baked in melodic ease.
