Tristen Bishop – Overton’s Window

An enchanting and provoking instrumental piece, Tristen Bishop’s ‘Overton’s Window’ draws inspiration from the term it derives its name from. From a rudimental understanding, the Overton Window refers to the range of policies and ideals that are deemed politically acceptable to the mainstream population at any particular time or moment. On this instrumental piece, Bishop has attempted to craft a piece that introduces a dissonance in ideas to the listener. It starts off exceptionally soothing and therapeutic before veering off into a much harsher, almost cacophonic and unsettling middle section that feels abrasive at moments. Slowly, as the song crescendos into its final string section, you find yourself once again lulled into a sense of beautifully magical serenity that has you feeling in complete and utter bliss.

A wonderfully conceptualised and even more exceptionally laid out piece of classical fused with experimental instrumental string work. Orchestral magic at its finest.
