Moscow based alternative rock group, Under Delusion are defiantly unique in their style. On their latest record, ‘Lover’, the group bring to life their characteristic style of dark wave imbued with seductive and lustrous production arrangements that are driven by a groovy and heavy bass. Bringing together elements of electronica and rock, they craft a wholly euphoric and dreamy experience that’s incredibly atmospheric and spacious while still retaining a core essence of loving expression. The synths are glistening, shimmering on top of a powering and epic drum arrangement that gives the record power and substance.
The album’s titular track, and the chosen piece for this review, is a definite highlight. It’s opulent in style and substance but never loud or abrasive in its execution. The entire experience is like a fever dream, slightly uncomfortable but somewhat intriguing and altogether addictive. It’s a mesmerizing ride that’s catalysed by wholly unique and expressive vocals on top of seamlessly seductive and atmospheric production.
