Slightly distorted, but wholly emotive, Vandal of Hearts’ ‘Blissy’ is a self avowed love letter or tribute to the power of music itself. Describing the way music can power us, can provoke us, and even inspire us, Vandal of Heart’s explores all the good but also reconciles with the fact that music can’t in itself cure us. It’s a fairly unique piece conceptually, a love letter not to an artist or genre but to the medium itself. Driven and steered by a central guitar performance that continually seems to evolve and grow in itself, the riff of Blissy is an indisputable highlight.
It feels like a classic rock piece momentarily, before entirely switching itself into something far more atmospheric and airy. You’re left feeling entirely enamoured and inspired while being just a tad bit uneasy as well.
