An album that oscillates from the more aggressive and punchy drill elements to soulful and relaxing, VISION’s ‘In My Own World’ is an insight into the up and coming Adelaide based musician’s musical diversity and talent. Not only does VISION excel in almost each genre she takes up, she’s able to combine and synthesize her myriad of styles into an assortment of tracks that continually leave you feeling increasingly more invested in the project and her world.
Hip-hop definitely takes front and centre for VISION, playing the main role and guiding line across the record. But it’s in the beats, the ever so intriguing production that combines modern trap and drill elements with more old school soulful beats that combine to carve out something so uniquely atmospheric and enthralling.
Definite highlights come on ‘Lost’, ‘Numb’, and ‘No Lie’. Any hip-hop fan definitely needs to give this record a listen.
