‘Chrystallized’ quite defiantly sounds like a tune from a forgotten and bygone era. McKeever wears his heart on his sleeve, delivering an upbeat and classic piece of rock and roll that doesn’t compromise its integrity or primal melodic sensibility for one moment. It’s raucous but sensual at the same time, combining the aggressive and powerful riffs and drums with a more measured and melodious vocal performances. In his first iteration as a solo artist, he’s managed to conceive and build a crystal clear piece of classic rock that harkens back to 80s music of old with a veneer of the new.
There’s a bit of garage, a bit of new age, and a powerful element of psychedelia that all ring through on this singularly eclectic yet crisply rock and roll centric record.
