Incisive guitar riffs that combine with an equally electrifying bass line makes The Lowtones latest “Radio” an absolutely sizzling piece of alternative rock. With a vocal performance that’s so distinctively unique, baritone and epic in scale and exuberance, the song almost reels you into its larger than life arrangement. The entire tune feels made for festivals, for a live audience that can enjoy the scale of its instrumental apparatus and sing along to the anthemic nature of its chorus line. It’s a lavish piece, a riveting piece of stadium rock that combines influences of new wave and post punk into something that’s not even once in the slightest abrasive or rough around the edges.
Wonderfully polished from back to front, “Radio” is a testament to how modern rock artists are innovating their sonic choices into something wholly new. This is a watershed song for the group, and I’m definitely going to be hitting replay on The Lowtones a whole lot more.
