RockCounsellor’s new EP “You Don’t Need to Believe It” is a powerful and emotionally charged collection of three songs that tackle themes of loss, grief, and toxic relationships. Written and recorded by Camden, England-based songwriter, musician, and addiction therapist Thoby Burton in collaboration with producer Richard Campbell, the EP showcases Burton’s unique perspective as a therapist and his ability to translate those experiences into relatable and thought-provoking music.
The title track, “You Don’t Need to Believe It,” is a break-up song inspired by stories Burton hears in his work as a therapist and deals with the defence of denial which can keep us from fully experiencing loss and being able to begin the process of grieving. The EP is an honest and authentic look into the human experience, showcasing Burton’s unique perspective to offer a more empathetic perspective than most through musicality alone. Warmth on a cold day.
